One hand, ads and promos are reasons that google and facebook are so successful. On the other hand, I've seen lots of bullshit marketing activities from the companies I have worked or I have associated.

I guess to do a good marketing is not a easy job. Another thing I noticed and it's quite common, is that lots of companies' marketing group has one senior person (VP or director) and lots of young people. Interesting to see why is like that.

Agreed. Suburu would spend its money better on ads that tell me something about the cars. To me, the brand has no identity.

Suburu is currently running a series of radio spots with its own version of warm, fuzzy, artsy types sharing their true innermost feelings about their car - nauseating.

I agree. The only way an ad works is if people actually WATCH it. Those CDC ads are so over the top that you turn away, so they don't serve any purpose.

OMG yes! I have to change the channel, and appatently a lot of others do too -- which means they are not effective. Tell me why showing someone puking phlegm while I'm trying to eat breakfast is a good way to make an anti-smoking message? You know what one works? The one with the preschoolers saying "we smoke on the way to school" and stuff. That makes you think. And it would make me think harder if I was a smoker.

What do we think of the new, scary-graphic anti-smoking campaign launched by the CDC? Are the commercials so painful to watch that people will turn them off?

"I'm not sure who the target market for clowns really is."

That is funny. Wall Street, maybe?

I've never understood the whole clown thing either. And most of my kids actively disliked clowns, so I'm not sure who the target market for clowns really is.

Some people ( like Stephen King) also have problems with clowns. Why does fast food need such figures?

I agree that Dr.Pepper drinkers are very special, because Dr. Pepper is the only soft drink that make me sick. I hold shares of Pepsi & KO, but just can't purchase any DPS shares due to the weird taste of Dr. Pepper.
