Someday we will tell our grandchildren what life was like before social media -- and they will marvel at the concept that there was a time when other people did not know when you ate, slept or had an argument with a friend.

That is indeed a good post. Especially I like "In this digital age, ... and it might be beneficial to stop lobbying and start innovating." Innovation is the key to keep us ahead of piracy and many other problems.Without innovation, we just be left with tons of useles regulations.

@Noreen Now this looks like a totally different ball game from what it was just 24 hours ago. I guess everyone had a bit of time to think things through. @ Joey - A very interesting post Joey. We are all waiting to see what will happen next. How are they ever going to control something which is so obviously uncontrollable.

The real issue

I think the real issue is what really causes piracy? I think in many cases the goods are overpriced and consumers feel they are getting ripped off. Why should a digital book ( which costs much less to produce) be priced higher than a phyrsical book? Why should a DVD rental on line cost $9.00 when you can go to a Red Box and pay $1? If the media companies priced things fairly and really tried to meet the needs of users ( such as ability to share, etc). then most of theproblem would take care of itself.

Louis C.K. just did a very interesting experiment regarding piracy and the sales of his latest special. This is a pretty interesting article about it: http://www.geek.com/articles/geek-pick/comedian-louis-c-k-confronts-piracy-head-on-with-a-digital-experiment-20111214/

That wes interesting, @Tenacious, Thanks for sharing.
