SEC, hello?

Technology is rendering the old regulatory models more and more obsolete every day. It's getting harder and harder for the government to referee the free fire zone. Markets are driven much more by fear and opportunism (AKA greed) than information or rationality. That's not exactly breaking news, but making informed, rational choices is going to continue to become more and more difficult to do, so fear and opportunism will play even larger roles.

Do we want Transparency in the markets or not???

Ann,

The big question that your post(as well as all those advocates of Dark Pools) refuse to answer is -

"Do we want Transparency in the World's Stock markets or do we want to operate with One set of Rules for the Big Guys[With Assets worth Billions of Dollars and One for the Little Guys[Assets worth Thousands of Dollars] ?"

Having been through most of the Research into them, the only major issue I have is why can't we conduct all trades totally Transparently and in the open(and lower Transaction costs for everyone concerned equally)?

Maybe I know I am being too idealistic in a World filled with Sharks. But if the SEC and the US Govt.is really serious about increasing Equity participation among  Lower Middle Class Americans (as well as among foriegn Investors);this is an issue which needs to be tackled with Total seriousness.

We can always Dream.

Regards

Ashish.

A Great Tool

From a technology standpoint these pools seem to be great tools. Allowing you to set logical parameters for your trade and have it execute as an order is placed that would make your condition true. Such a great advantage for an investor.

I would like to find out more about the types of conditions and rules that can be set on the systems, as well as the type of network architecture and network technology that is used on these systems.
