Hyperinflation coming...

China is considering cutting two thirds of its US$ 3 trillion in foreign exchange reservesThis will pose a huge problem for the US Fed, which will be stuck with being the only buyer of US debt and that will lead to hyperinflation and more problems for the US economy.

I'm saying there is always another crisis, and the sytem always seems "shocked" by this, even though they appear to happen regularly every 5 years or so.

As for a U.S. currency crisis, that is just a potential scenario. I can't say when or if it might happen, but given the current trajectory of the U.S. dollar it certainly seems possible. I will also note that currency crises often evolve very rapidly and "overnight,' so we have to keep our eye on it. The aggressive moves in gold certainly seem to be telegraphing something.

You are absolutely right. Fed doesn't have many weapons to fight this economy difficulties any more. It's probably not only US Fed, but also most countries' central bank. We will face more challenges down the road, more choices to make. Some choices may be painful. Before things getting better, more painful choices need to be made soon.

Eventually things will get better though, I'd say much better.

Scott nice article, could you please throw some light on what you meant by US Currency Crisis of 2012? Are you suggesting dollor will loose its status of "preferred  currency". ?
