A sheep in wolf's clothing?

Thanks for the kind words, mInvestor and Street Smart.  The macros are certainly indicating the need for caution.  On the other hand, with a market ignoring bad news, this creates pretty firm footing for allocating more of our portfolios to stocks, as the risk of a price drop seems minor.

I agree that BRCM will need to get its act together on the tech support side to see continued growth (if it's truly a widespread issue - what's the source?).  This would certainly and materially affect attrition and customer turnover, if not outright new customers.

Interesting comment on tech support. I think tech support is critical in a segment like this. If this is an issue, Broadcom will need to fix this or it will effect their growth.

Yes, Broadcom dominate in several important areas. But I heard many people complained they are not responsive to any technical inquries. Not sure if that problem will eventually affect their sales. Well, maybe their business is oging so well that they can skip their tech support for the time being. Hard to judge a company now a day.

Broadcom is doing a good job of targeting products at the growing networking segment of cable, wireless and Ethernet. They have over 15,000 patents and are the leader in many of their segments.

Excellent recap, but all I could picture reading it was gazing out at a beach where the sign said "Hidden riptides.  Swim at your own risk!"

So, thanks for being our lifeguard!  And an honest one at that.  I liked that you weren't trying to invent a million explanations for inexplicable market behavior. As you put it, "...maybe the market has just grown accustomed to hearing bad news by now."

Maybe so, but we still need messengers who can throw us a life raft!

A good summary

Thank Tony for this good summary of market in this month. The macro indicators are mixed. My feelings the overall economics is not that bad, but it's neither good. The only word I can say is "Muddle", like we are in early spring. Ice start to melt, everything is splash. Idealy, we shall see warm spring soon, but not sure if we will be hit by seveal major storms before we see that.

Greek is a big concern to European countries, it's going to test EU, it will certainly impact us here as well. Wait and see, turbing wind ahead.

Consumer confidence is going to take a dive again so long as the bad economic news continues to hover. Let's call this for what it is: A jobless recovery. Billions spent on "stimulus", which did much to stimulate the commodity market and that's about it.
