It willprobably be james, but his performance certainly gives many people pause about his fitness.

Anand,
It would work a lot like the break-up of Standard Oil (after Rockefeller's death) or AT&T into its various competing Bells.
The chance of a monopoly extracting monopoly rent(possible only if it controls the market) is much less when there is so much competition.Which would force the likes of NewsCorp(especially 3-4 descendant companies) to work much-much harder and generate better quality news.
Or do you think things will go in the reverse direction???
Sensationalism will trump over quality of news???

Ashish.

Break up NewsCorp into atleast 3-4 competing parts.
@Ashish,
How will it help if we breakdown the NewsCorp into multiple competiting parts ?

@tokyogai, In your opinion who will replace Rupert ? Murdoch's son James is one likely candidate for the post.
It was really silly of Competition Authorities to let Newscorp get so Big in the first place.

Guys,
I personally think that Competition authorities in the Western World were extremely short-sighted when they decided to let Murdoch go out gobbling all these smaller companies.Newscorp should never really have gotten so big in the first place.
Size tends to be the No.1 reason why companies get arrogant and resort to all manner of unethical/illegal behaviour.
So the best way to cut them down to size is simple.
Break up NewsCorp into atleast 3-4 competing parts.
In Fact is I don't access majority of NewsCorp content because its the dumbed down version of the news which we need and most of it is nothing short of jingoism .Most fellow intelligent netizens are also of the same opinion. So I won't be totally surprised if the Blogosphere ensures(over the next year or so) that Newscorp companies don't retain Half the influence they have in place today.

Ashish.
Wharton management professor Michael Useem says while it's rare for corporate officials to explicitly direct employees to break the law, implicit messages within a company's culture can create the right climate for individuals to cross the line between competitive and crooked. "The top person is vital," he said. "The tone starts at the top."
I really doubt that Mr. Murdoch really felt humble during the hearing. His answers did not show any regret or responsibility for the whole scandal.
Poor James, I don't think he will have a long reign over Daddy's empire. Tough Wendy will take everything from soft James. Does anyone think Murdoch the junior have any chance to maintain his position after Murdoch Senior is gone? I bet not.
GOOD point! You can bet she's masterminding his China strategy...
I've heard of an éminence grise, but in that blazer yesterday, I think we have to call Wendibaby, Rupert's éminence rose!

Who says she isn't in charge? Rupert was clearly not at his best, although Wendy was. Maybe it is time for a change.
