Gold -- should consolidate here around $1650 before the next run. The best source I know on gold is Jim Sinclair he says the gold move accelerates after $1,700. After that, anything can happen. I believe $2,500 is attainable in the next two years.

Jim Sinclair's Website, which is a must read, is here:

Scott,

I agree with you that Gold entered parabolic stage. Do you think gold will reach 2500$ faster than we expected ?

I agree that today’s behavior in the gold price was schizophrenic based on profit taking and managing margin calls in other areas. However it’s interesting that the precious metals funds also to a dive. What do you think –was it just a panic sell off? That’s where I am leaning; it seems that hysteria got the better of the nervous investors this week.

Heinrich,

Really there is no potlical will to actually embrace our problems.

Therefore gold will continue to climb.

It had a nasty reversal today and may correct to the low $1600s, where you buy it again.

I think, there should be some official trade regulating bodies to control the gold pricings. If the gold price is shooting like this, it’s very difficult for common people to afford it.

The correlation is undeniable, though there have been historical trends in which the price of gold has fallen as the debt ceiling was increased.  The difference now is with all the factors inhibiting growth, there are lingering questions as to the basis for repayment of the debt.  Each fall-off in GDP impacts budget deficits fairly directly, on the order of a few percentage points.  Will the price of gold fall?  One thing that might do it would be to *lower* the debt ceiling.  A move like this has rich potential for political drama!

All your thoughts are good. Now the gold already started climbing, would you think there will be a dip down the road, and give us a better chance to buy gold?I am talking about a relative big correction, like 10%?

Now that governments have joined the buyers, look for an increase in price that will continue for a while. I think this bubble will get big before anything comes along to burst it.
