I agree it's clearly an attempt at misguiding people. Better to keep away.

Scott,
This is another good piece, thank you.
However, I noitced that most of your suggestions are resource and commoditiy, except Oracle. I think some people may have different opinion on Oracle.
In your article, you mentioned "I was quite shocked by how many cheap stocks there were. In fact, I can say that, after 10 years of running stock screens, I don't think I've ever seen so many cheap stocks. What's that mean? Well, clearly, the market is scared"
Well, are people only scared in resource and commodity sectors? How about other sectors, like consumer goods, biotech etc. It's supposed to be a broad based sell-off.
Or you think other sectors won't make too much move in the coming months? Thw whole thing just tanked till 2012?
Hehehe... I know I asked too many questions, and too much. Just wish we could have a crystal ball to see the future.
Turbulent time and more uncertainties ahead ...
you're right...they are "spamming" up inboxes with their mail. it seemed interesting enough to take a chance...fortunately I only thought about it, never invested. Thanks for the heads up!

The only thing worse than stocks hyped via e-mail are stocks hyped via fax!

The fact that you're getting emails on FIS.V should raise a red flag. If a financial expert was really convinced this was a tremendous value, a pearl; what reason would they have to write long spam emails to thousands of strangers about how great it is?
More likely, they're selling at the same time they're encouraging you to buy.
It's a penny stock - another red flag. If there's any thought that this might be worth considering, check the key statistics on FIS.V, at Yahoo finance and you'll see
- Market cap is only $70M. Low enough that lots of people can manipulate the price.
- Earnings and Net Income are both negative
- Cash Flow is negative
Stay clear and delete the emails.
Oh I see now.. .toronto-listed penny stock... no thanks not really our cup of tea!
"making some moves"
which stock? which moves?
Not trying to promote anything but I get emails on this stock and it looks like it is making some moves.
The profit is there with Oracle, but I just dont see the technical advantage they would need right now for me to think there is going to be good growth there.
I am with you on the mining companies, if Scott is right and gold still has a way to climb those stocks could really shoot up.

I'm also a bit doubtful about oracle. I agree with you that they are a bit too volatile. But I wouldn't mind taking a good look at the mining companies Scott mentioned. Thanks for the update Scott.
