A lid on arrangements with government regulators helps to prevent disruption of those arrangements. This is just good business counter-intelligence.
This follows logically from the insurance, derivatives and other hedge paper of unknown risk hidden from regulators. This type of knowledge is appropriate only for those who can make the best use of it.
EU Regulators want to hide bailout information

@Scott, everyone -
A new regulation being proposed within the EU would allow the existence of emergency bailouts to be kept hidden from the public.
From a regulator's perspective, I can see some logic to this - you don't want to cause a run on the very bank (or country) you're trying to keep afloat. However, as an investor - this seems like more scary news. How bad are the problems if we can't even know about them anymore?
Here's the story: - Revealed: EU inside info secrecy power
is an understatement as it seems as though things will never get better, but I remain optimistic.
I am not psychic, as some TV pundits claim to be, but it feels like it's still too early to start buying stocks. We need more clarity on the economy/rescue packages/Euro debacle. I think 2008 is a good blueprint think about after the crisis it took about 6 months for the markets to stabilize.

if the situation continues to deteriorate, do you foresee a real breakdown in the streets
@cat tail, I guess if the market fails to recover then it wont be surprising to see people come on street and protest against government policies. Infact I feel "Occupy wall street" is just the beginning of peoples show of frustration against government policies.

Testing the 2011 lows.
@Scott, any chance market will test 2008 lows or is it the right time to start buying the stocks ?
Testing the 2011 lows. Market does not feel good at all. Most distrubing is the meltdown in the financial stocks.

Absolutely, just know that I've befriended a family of bears that protect me and my crop fields from any predators, like lions and ostriches. So if you have anything against bears, it might not be the place for you.
