They do a nice job breaking sports stories but every time I click on one of the headlines for a sport story, the writing is pathetic and pointless.  It's like they find the dumbest thing to write about and do a whole page of nothing.  Then 1,000 people post comments that are just as meaningless.  It gets frustrating.

I just don't see the value in these companies.  If Yahoo went away tomorrow, I would simply type another search engine into my browser and go on with life.  I get the advertising part with getting people hooked on one engine and having them come back everyday but there's just too many choices nowadays to care.

I am also curious to know is how Yahoo defines itself within its own offices. How would Yahoo employees describe the company when they eat lunch? Content portal? Advertising platform? (Though I suppose those go hand-in-hand).

Where does Yahoo think it fits in the current online world? I have watched other types of companies cook up turnaround plans with varying success. The ones that forge clear identities for themselve tend to fare better.

Yahoo has to generate more revenue for its existence. For attracting more public to the portal, they are trying with different experimental models like adding news clips and other value added services.

Those shows sound absolutely awful. 

As others have said though, Yahoo answers is usually good for required information or a good laugh. Haven't logged in to check my Yahoo email in about 10 years though....

The yahoo is very weak at mail & search, but still strong at finance, and message board. Yahoo shall still be attractive to microsoft, but not so desirable after years of mismanagement.

@Tenacious, I totally agree with you. Yahoo's message boards are one of the best message boards available online. I have referred to Yahoo Answeres page whenever I wanted answers to my academic questions and most of the time I got answers to even toughest of the questions. I really wish Yahoo survives  and reemerges stronger.

I fear that the current situation over at Yahoo will make this more difficult.Before all of this i think they would have been in a good spot to pick up Hulu. Now its anyones guess what will happen to them.

Yahoo has been struggling for a while to cement its identity. I stopped using it years ago because it just seemed scatter shot and unclear about its message, although I still like the message boards.

I also used yahoo mail and web search but changed to google when google offered a better product. Yahoo used to be the best site for everything including chat. But it lost it's competitive advantage when it failed to keep up with innovative more user friendly products offered by others. I hope providing more content with ABC might help it to get back it's former glory.
