Asa,
You know as well as I do that when people are talking about the brand, it develops buzz.
Here's the thing about Groupon that a lot of people don't get--they still have not scratched the surface about they can achieve, nor have they reached all of the customers they could truly have,

Groupon still generates plenty of interest from regular consumers. I see questions and comments about it every day on various consumer bargain hunting sites.
I always wonder abou the true health of 'deal' organizations. How can one truly forecast revenue. Especially in these economic times, how can an exec say with confidence that x % of companies will sign on with us... then actually get a decent return on the sales...?

I still can't believe that Groupon passed on that offer.
I am totally with you, @drivewaygirl! But in addition to immaturity and arrogance, I think Groupon management's problem boils down to something more basic: They are word people as opposed to numbers people.
Now, I'm not saying that one can't be both; in fact, good managers MUST be both. I just simply don't think Groupon management is, and I think it caught up with them sooner rather than later. They can't pun their way out of the Peter Principle...

Well, all I have to say about Groupon:
Can you say "FIZZLE?"
I'd feel better about Groupon if I could shake the impression that the company was run by a bunch of immature and arrogant people. That does not inspire confidence!

Groupon is starting to feel like Curves--that 30 minute exercise place everyone talked about for a while. Then stopped caring about just as quickly.
GROUPON can handle its business and this will turn out as a positive.

philtheinvestor , I agree the financial operation is a very important part of running a business. Dollar does mean something, but if Groupon fail to focus on their customers, $$ won't save them, it is a chicken & egg issue.
My point is that Groupon management team spent so much energy on the IPO for so long a time. It will definitely distract their concentration on daily business operation, and customer service. In the long run, it will have a negative impact on their firm, considering the mounting competition pressure these days.
