It was an unsettling night in Oakland as well, where protesters clashed with police. This picture is from the LA Times, which reported three protesters were hospitalized and several officers received minor injuries after Occupy Oakland protesters took over a downtown office building and police in riot gear fired tear gas at them

OWS started fairly altruistic. But you can't weed out all the undesirables, as this proves:
The Occupy Wall Street encampment in Zuccotti Park has had to deal with its share of undesirable behavior, but Wednesday saw the most serious criminal allegations yet, as a volunteer in the encampment's kitchen was arrested for sexual assault and rape. The 26-year-old volunteer, a Crown Heights man named Tonye Iketubosin, allegedly raped one woman and groped another. He was arested after fellow volunteers told him to leave.
Bottom line, Joey, the herd mentality is problematic whether you're part of Wall Street or part of Zuccotti Park. In fact, the 1% would probably tell you that they got that way by NOT following the herd!

LOL Cat Tail... Joey, it's why so many older adults run to the gym, meditate or drink heavily. There are a lot of things to be frustrated about and sometimes it seems impossible to understand how to resolve any of them.

Ah Joey. Know what you learn about frustration? It doesn't go away. There are more incompetent and stupid people in places of authority and control than you can believe. And you've got to learn it's just the way of things, unless you want to get an ulcer.

Group psychology is hard to manage and harder to predict. Biosphere 2-- that weird 1990s experiment in the Arizona dessert - proved that. Before the first two year Biosphere mission was half over, the group had split into two factions and people who had been intimate friends had become implacable enemies, barely on speaking terms.
OWS will find similar fractures. Not everyone is motivated, helpful, positive or "good" -- and some people just don't deserve as much as others as a result. The caveat": people who get more should earn it fairly, not steal it from the weaker/poorer ones.

OWS is learning what every other group living experiement has discovered: in short order, classes create themselves, no matter how hard you say everyone is equal.

This is really bad. This is the type of thing that will get a lot of negative publicity. The sad fact is that these are the things that end up getting publicized instead of the actual cause.

AskAsa, that is hilarious. Is this becoming a joke?
I agree, I think its going down like the titanic. Eventually there will just be the trouble makers left.
