@Phoenix I have used many mobiles so far and Nokia had the best battery life. I really miss my Nokia these days. I really hope they will release android phone eventually because Nokia provides some of the best hardware features in its mobile.

Apple customers say devices with the new iOS 5 operating system are still suffering from weak battery life, even after the company issued a software update meant to fix the malfunction. Does it mean if this is hardware bug ?

Apple has told iPhone 4S parts suppliers to delay part of their calendar Q4 shipments into the first quarter “as sales of the iPhone 4S have not been as strong as those concluded in the pre-sales period,” according to DigiTimes, noting that the situation also reflects “shortages in the supply of some key components.”

I knew there was something wrong.  I have taken to bringing a charger to work in addition to the charger at home and in the car and I keep it plugged in most of the time.

Apple is very remiss in its quality assurance testing to claim its iPhone operates for 8 hours on a charge and allows 6 hours of internet use.  These parametrics are very easy to test and the fact that phones slipped through the cracks speaks to the vigorous competition Apple faces, narrowing its time-to-market window.

Very true. In fact all the former iPhones also had lesser battery life than my old trusted Nokia phone. Before you ask the time I spent talking or using the phone was much more with the Nokia. So there is a battery life problem with iPhone.

Understood. But this battery issue is plaguing not only the 4S but the iPhone 4--and that's been out far longer than 6 months, The battery issues on the iPhone may have been exacerbated by the operating system update, but they were there even before it on many of these older phones.

In the interest of disclosure I do not own an iphone, in fact I only own one apple product. However I understand technology and while everyone  wants the latest and greatest new gadget its technology it’s going to have bugs in its initial relapse. I was a product manager and understand this clearly—I have the t-shirt to prove itJ. The price you pay for early adoption is glitches if users want perfect wait till the product is out at least six months and reaches a critical mass.

Good points. and abuse is the right word. I was in a Verizon store Friday and heard one of the sales reps testing an iPhone, actually testing the interface with Siri. You know what that dang piece of AI crap said? "Don't ask me anymore questions."

If I pay $400 for a phone, I'm going to ask all the darn questions I please.

I know you are right @broadway. But that doesn't make this any less crazy. We jump on every other company but always give Apple a pass. Maybe there is some subliminal programming in  these devices!
