What effect, if any, do you think Sony's relationship with Google will have? (Google recently announced upgrades to Google TV, which Sony produces for televisions and Blu-Ray players).

With a better interface and the additional Android market, could it boost the life of TVs?.

While I don't watch that many sports, I find very few TV shows require viewing on large format screens. Almost everything, with the exception of select movies and things that I just want to digest with less distraction, are fine on my tablet.

When I first got my tablet I didnt think I would enjoy watching video on it, but it really has been a postive experience.

The only TV I watch when its on would be living sporting events, for the most part anything else I watch on the TV I record with my DVR and catch up when I have some free time.

but the tablet lets me really just catch stuff onDemand when I am free to watch it.

It's not just Sony that's struggling. Sharp and Panasonic are both significantly scaling back. Panasonic, considered by many the industry leader, projected $5.4 billion in losses this year. It plans to cut production for all flat-panels by almost a half, closing both a plasma and an LCD factory in Japan.

I still have several shows that I watch by appointment on the big screen in my living room, But all the other content is just as good on a small screen, and suitable for consumption on the go. The TV itself is no longer a content gateway.

I think the TV everywhere move by alot of service providers is having a big impact on this market. I know only about half the TV i currently watch is on one of my TV sets, the rest is mostly on my tablet. as well as the move to my tablet, I am also watching more web based content on both my tablet and my TV.
