The SBA is one of those agencies that sounds good in theory, but leaves many people who try to access its services frustrated and unimpressed.

It was expected by some analysers that the commercial housing is another shoe going to drop soon. But so far the situation is not that bad. Now, commercial landloads have tried lots of effort to stay above water. If they can hang there a littel longer, they might be able to survive this recession. Well, that certainly helps us all in general. I hope they succeed.

It's nice if any of these aftermarkets parts are being made here which I doubt.  The retailers and auto shops would do ok though.

Many of these commercial landlords are practically giving the space away in the hopes of getting someone in there that will be successful and then eventually rent long term.  There is a mall that I am familiar with that has pretty much waived all rent for the four major retailers for the next year just to keep them there so that the other smaller stores don't close up.

The SBA is in a bigger mess than most of the government agencies.  You better have one heck of a business plan and some cash to go with it if you are thinking of a start up right now.

Create an LLC or some other form of corp ownership to protect your personal property and take a shot--what have you got to lose? Maybe you'll hit a winner.

If you can get funding, why not take a try at a startup? If you can build a business in today's times, then imagine what you'll be able to do when times turn around?

I have to agree with you new startup shops are unlikely to try their hand at entrepreneurship at this moment in time. It seems prudent to wait and seek your ideal location.
