I agree. Going with the more modest number would have been outrageous enough, and likely more accurate.

My "thanks Scott" is sincere. I appreciate having the accurate number. All flavors of nonsense fly around the Internet at great speed, and sometimes even get repeated by people who should know better.

I'm not a banker, but that still seems like a very large amount of money to me.

It's a shame Bloomberg screwed up on this one because, as the previous commenter notes, $1.5 trillion is also incredibly high and is just as worthy a number of getting people riled up as $7.7 trillion is.

Unfortunately, the truth gets lost in the rumormongering and taking facts out of context.
