I'm kind of a geek at heart and find that both exciting and amazing.

There will most defiantly be advancements in modulation technology that will allow more data to to fit in the same bandwidth. There is also the use of femto cells that alleviate tower traffic by using the customers broadband connection to transport the data as IP traffic.

Perhaps there will be some new technology -- nano-wiireless, if you will, that will enable the same kinds of use with much lower bandwidth.

You would think the more they see that they have control of the market (the air), prices will continue to climb. No available air space means no new competition!

And it seems like we only scratched the surface. Everything from watches to televisions to mp3's need more and more technology. Heck, they now sell refrigerators with internet in the door.

It's amazing when you think of all the telecommunications services that are required these days and compare it to when "I was a kid," when, there was like, a landline phone. Okay yes, now I feel like an old geezer.

It would be great if they'd come out with a cost effective family data plan.

Family data plans would be an excellent option. Wonder how Verizon would handle family plans that have several phones grandfathered under the old unlimited data plans and several others on the newer limited plans.

Both Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam and AT&T's CEO Ralph de la Vega have indicated they are gearing up to offer shared data plans sometime in 2012. This would be very advantageous for anyone with a family plan because you  buy a chunk of  data then pile on the lines and share it for a flat rate, the way we do now with minutes.

My guess is that since AT&T will now have to find other ways to improve its network that there could be higher prices and worser sevice in the future.
