Excellent points. This diversion gave Verizon a perfect opportunity to really forge ahead with its own agenda.

Although spetrum is an issue for AT&T, I think the real problems are:

1. they lost a lot of time focusing on this deal while Verizon built its LTE network.

2. They have to pay $3B that could have gone to the LTE rollout

This is what will cause the most long term problems for AT&T. I have doubts that they will ever overcome these problems in a way that holds their market position.

No, not unless you had an unlimited plan before it stopped offering them earlier this year. The cost now ranges from $30 a month for 2GB to $100 for 12GB

Is Verizon still offering unlimited data plans?

Exactly -- and most of us who have been burned even once have boosted our monthly allotment of minutes up to prevent it ever happening again. Of course, that means we now pay for more minutes than we're ever likely to use...

I hope NONE. I just found out the hard way that Sprint charges $0.45 per minute if you surpass overage limits. REALLY??? Why?

Scott, I think these collapse and its consequences have only shorter impacts. These two are well established service providers and had their own identity in market. The only thing is they had freeze their own expansion plans for a while for post merge expansion. I think they are capable to come out from such delima at the earliest for a better future expansion and growth.

Oh, I think they have a while, there is not disaster looming right away. But they have the sort out the spectrum situation somehow. Part of it is coming through a partnership with T-Mobile but they need more of their own spectrum.

Scott, when you say that ATT's stock could be in jeapordy in the "long term" because of the collapse of this deal, when does that risk outweigh the fat dividend that ATT pays? A year or two if they don't figure out another way to solve their problems?
