I Had not really been looking at the Biotechs recently. This was a good reminder and some great information. Thanks
Great post, @Rod. I'm glad that the fundamentals continue strong in biotech and are growing ever stronger for companies such as Bristol-Myers that had lost its way for a while there and Pfizer which is weathering the move to generic Lipitor.
What makes me most optimistic however--about the biotechs--is the global decline in health and the corresponding rise in "wealthy maladies," not only in the US but in rapidly-industrializing nations such as India, China and Brazil.
As a stock-picker friend of mine said recently, "Just visit a grocery store and you'll see that diabetes is alive and growing."
True that...

Rod, I think when compare with equity investment in banking or IT or real-estate sector, investments in biotechnology sector is considerably good. In other words we can say that from biotechnology sectors returns are promising atleast for the next 5 years.

The data you have provided made me want to take a closer look at Biotech related investments. I have always felt that the industry is generally very volatile. It is very unpredictable when it comes to how successful its drug development and testing goes. But after your reasoning I feel this is an area which offers some good opportunities if pick out the right companies to invest in.

The demand is growing for sure. Also it's about time that some significant breakthorugh will happen soon in this field. I was told quite many new or start-ups look really promising. Of course those big ones are also making significant progress. So some people predict that we are entering Biotech innovation age in the next couple of years.
I myself start to invest into this field gradually.
Biotech is showing lots of growth. Just this week, a biotech firm closed on the purchase of a vacant 118,000 Sq. Ft. office building in White Plains, NY -- the county's largest office sale of the year.
HistoGenetics, a biotechnology company which specializes in molecular tissue typing services, plans to develop a major research and development facility and provides hospitals and transplant centers with rapid DNA sequence-based tissue typing. The firm is moving from Ossining, NY, about 20 miles north of White Plains.

that's interesting Noreen, given how CRE is still soft. Had the building been vacant long?
Two years. It was formerly occupied by Malcolm Pirnie, an environmental consulting firm. .
