Ron Paul suffers bad hits on Super Tuesday,Vows to fight on to protect Civil Liberties...

Guys,

The Ron Paul campaign has suffered a major blow with his failure to win Alaska.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17282260

He has vowed to fight on and protect Civil Liberties.

Here is a very good interview,he recently conducted on Face of the Nation as well as his take on the Rush Limbaugh controversy.

http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/2012/03/ron-paul-on-face-nation-blasts-rush.html

There is no disputing the fact that if Santorum does clinch the Republican Nomination;he will lose the Presidency to Obama;as for Romney he is just the same as Obama so things really would not change much either.

Ron Paul is the only candidate who offers realistic change.

Unfortunately as things stand today-He is out of the Presidential Nomination process;unless we see a sudden surprise whereby Romney ties up with Ron Paul.

What that would do is unclear(outcome would be too close to call).

Regards

Ashish.

Guys.

The Non-Partisan Group for Responsible Budgets has come out openly in support of Ron Paul(He is the only President under whom the Deficit would fall decisively)

Check this out

He continues to be the only candidate to talk Sense on Iran too

[BY threathening to Bomb Iran we are inadvertently supporting the Hardliners including the Ayotallah and Ahmedinajad]

The BBC says I love you Republican Party...
back2basicz   3/4/2012 7:53:08 AM
Guys,

Justin Webb of the BBC has written what is probably a Love letter for the Republican Party.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-17210652

But is it accurate???

Is the Republican Party really the one who is going to cut Deficits (no matter what they may say while Campaigning???

I really liked this statement here

"

The Republican Party has often been on the right side of history.

From Lincoln to Reagan they have been able persuaders - admired and respected. This primary season has not been their finest hour. Their re-emergence, when it comes, will be fascinating to watch.

"

The way I look at it;the Democrats want to increase Spending and Raise Taxes;while the Republicans want to increase Spending and Cut Taxes(Ron Paul excluded) as even the Washington Post Found out here

http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/report-debt-will-swell-under-top-gop-hopefuls-tax-plans/2012/02/22/gIQAzAJvUR_story.html

Here's still hoping for  a Ron Paul win (Hopes fading fast I know).

Politics can be extremely unpredictable sometimes....

Noreen,

Yes I agree wholeheartedly with what your husband says.

What about Hillary Clinton? How would she do instead of Obama??

Really liked this article and what its driving at;particularly the part where the Democratic Pollsters come in here,

"

Democrat pollsters Patrick Caddell and Douglas Schoen, in a November 21, 2011 opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, note that Truman and Johnson both "took the moral high ground and decided against running for a new term as president." They conclude that "President Obama is facing a similar reality – and he must reach the same conclusion."

Caddell and Schoen concede that...

Mr. Obama could still win re-election in 2012. Even with his all-time low job approval ratings (and even worse ratings on handling the economy), the president could eke out a victory in November. But the kind of campaign required for the president's political survival would make it almost impossible for him to govern – not only during the campaign, but throughout a second term. Put simply, it seems that the White House has concluded that if the president cannot run on his record, he will need to wage the most negative campaign in history to stand any chance. With his job approval ratings below 45% overall and below 40% on the economy, the president cannot affirmatively make the case that voters are better off now than they were four years ago. He – like everyone else – knows that they are worse off.

They urge the president to "abandon his candidacy for re-election in favor of a clear alternative, one capable not only of saving the Democratic Party, but more important, of governing effectively and in a way that preserves the most important of the president's accomplishments. He should step aside for the one candidate who would become, by acclamation, the nominee of the Democratic Party: Secretary of State Hillary Clinton."

They note, "Having unique experience in government as first lady, senator and now as Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton is more qualified than any presidential candidate in recent memory, including her husband. Her election would arguably be as historic an event as the election of President Obama in 2008."

Would Hillary Clinton galvanize the Democratic Base which is just so disillusioned with Obama today???

Maybe this was the Democratic Party plan all along, let the GOP think (& prepare) for the eventuality that they are going to take on Obama when through a sudden and "unexpected" turn of events Obama withdraws in favor of Hillary Clinton.

Hillary comes in with a lot of experience of politics, shes practical, shes a woman and shes untainted by all the controveries surrounding the Obama administration including Solyandra and MF Global & you can't blame her for the bad economy either. If anything the entire Party machinery has only positive things to say about her for her role as Secretary of State.

I think a lot of moderate/centrist/Independent/pragmatic/Women/Hawkish voters would prefer her over Rick Santorum/Romney/Gingrich.

What do you think?

Ashish.

As my husband likes to say, we have plenty of Kool-aid in this country and people are more than willing to drink it. Many people vote for very superficial reasons.

Noreen,

The biggest problem is Money(or rather  the lack of it).

He made the smart decision early on to not try and divide the Ron Paul/Liberatarian vote inside the Republican Party(he is campaigning as a Libertarian candidate).

As looks increasingly likely,Ron Paul will lose the race for the Republican Nomination;than hopefully he will galvanize his support-base to vote for(&campaign on his behalf) for Gary Johnson.

Still looks a long-shot to challenge Obama though...

Regards

Ashish.

I don't know much about him Ashish, but you certainly make a good case. What factors do you think are holding him back from becoming a top player in the race?
