Scott, we can not forget about our great Basketball team the Cavs.... when I moved hear last year they were in the middle of a record breaking lossing streak.... the first game I went to was their first win in something like 28 games.

I'm sure it's a fine place. Truthfully, haven't spent much time there. But I grew up with a bunch of Pennsylvanians so I've heard my share of Ohio jokes.
Go easy on Ohio Scott, once you get past the snow, the cold, the lack of sun shine, the massive amounts of political coropton, and the seriously depressed econmoy its a great place to live. ;-)

I recall the 1980 story of a Youngstown Ohio man who walked out back to find his entire garage gone. Overnight it had fallen through the earth covered timbers that had covered a long fogotten ventilation shaft from the coal mining days.
The area is riddled with abandoned tunnels and shafts dug out and propped up with wooden boards nearly a century ago. While I'm usually skeptical about blaming technology for natural disasters - I think fracking and the rotting mine shafts deserve a close look.

Well I doubt that this situation will only happen in Ohio, im sure there are other areas that can be impacted in the same way , but I doubt its the majority of drilling sites. and there are probably any number of factors that can cause the earth quakes.

I agree it is risky, but it is a very high stakes game. I wonder if geologists can determine what actually caused the quake and whether this risk can be minimized? Maybe it is just the underground geology in Ohio and would not effect other areas.

It may be that long until the full impact of fracking is known. It's a risky game that is being played with the environment.
