Fracking controversies and shalequakes aside, use of natural gas as an alternative fuel continues to grow. Rolls-Royce, the global power systems company, has signed a contract to deliver engines and propulsion systems for the world's first Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) powered tugs. The two vessels have been ordered by Norwegian company Buksér og Berging AS and will enter service in late 2013 for Statoil, the international energy company, and Gassco, the operator of the gas transportation network off the Norwegian coast.
Tugs and barges usually run on Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), a distillate fuel.
There have been a series of small quakes recently in Lake Mead in Nevada -- and there is no fracking in that area.
There has, however, beeen more water than usuaal in the lake from smow runoff from Colorado. Arizona State Geologist Lee Allison said water levels sometimes correspond with movements in the earth's crust.
The Southern Nevada Water Authority says the lake holds 1.6 trillion more gallons of water than it did in November 2010 — its low point.
So a perfectly natural explanation? Maybe. Other explanations could include blasting in Southern Nevada quarries.
The point is there seems to be a lot of small quakes lately, in a lot of places. Maybe it would be good to know exactly what's causing them before we 1) panic or 2) do anything to make the situation worse.
There seems to be a bit of over reaction to the quake issue—all industries have impacts to the environment that need to be weighed in reaction to the services provided. Sounds like the need is there and we certainly need the jobs.

Okay then, can we start picking on West Virginia? I mean, is it part of Virginia or not?
I will say that since moving from Rhode Island to Cleveland I have really enjoyed living in this state. The long winters are a bit much, but I enjoy the cold weather so its not so bad for me. and since downtown is very easy to get around there is a lot to do in the city.
Ohio has 1) a very nice state fair and 2) it's the home of Bob Evans sausage, which is delicious.
My husband was born there, but boasts that he escaped.
Several of my ancestors from PA were married there, apparently because there was no waiting period for a license (and I guess every day counted when everyone was counting backwards from the firstborn's birthday.)
And at one point, there was this really amazing woman who read tea leaves at an arcade in the heart of Cleveland.
