Well then you should thank those of us who also do not like crowds but come here anyway -- so you don't have to!

I do not like crowds. I'm glad I'm virtually attending this event.

I have read a number fo articles about the dismal performance of the highlights of the show. It seems winning an award at CES is like the kiss of death. the product is almost guaranteed to fail in the market. Microsoft is echoing what many industry people feel-- this type of show is not longer relevant.
I saw that report in PCWorld too. And while I wasn't at CES last year, so I have no basis for comparison, 3D TVs are still pervasive. And, in my opinion, annoying.
Both Toshiba and Sony introduced TVs that provides 3D visuals without the need for glasses, for example. And a number of smaller companies are also pushing 3D, including one that sells software and an aftermarket 15.6 inch screen for 3D experiences on a laptop.

Yes and no. While the show is packed, it's interesting to note that the biggest companies seem to have less and less interest in it. As Scott explained in his post yesterday, Apple hasn't attended since the early 1990s.
Sony and Samsung are making a few announcements at the show, but neither is annuncing anything earthshattering.
And now Microsoft, which has been the keynote speaker for a decade or more, says this is its last year. Company employees said the cost outweighs the benefits of attending -- and Microsoft, like Apple, thinks it can put on its own shows cheaper, more efficiently and, possibly virtually.
So this could be the start of a seismic shift in mega-tradeshows like this...

How are 3D TVs this year?
I heard that big TV makers have turned their back on 3D TVs this year at CES. But it doesnt mean 3D isn't dead, it has just gone into a hibernation of sorts.

The biggest tradeshow in the Americas is expected to draw at least 150,000 exhibitors, speakers, and attendees this year.
@Noreen , Do you think this event is success so far ? Will the success of the show signal a tech boom in 2012 ?

So do any of you want to add any thoughts on consumer electronics -- or do we prefer stuff on Snookie?
