You can see how important bragging rights to the first and early caucuses are by the way states move up their elections to preserve the voting order.  For the 2016 election, the primaries will probably be held in 2013!

Ugh. I'm on my way home from Las Vegas. No drinking for me. Bring on the coffee cake.

Marvin,

We need to remember the movie, "Foreign Affair," in which a corn-fed Iowa congresswoman takes on chanteuse Marlene Deitrich and wins.

My plan for the Iowa caucuses is much simpler than yours.  If you can buy a vote for an excellent slice of coffee cake, I'd make sure that my candidate sponsored the bars at the caucus locations.

Drink up!

Ted.

I guess New Jersey is just slightly behind Illinois in dubious voting practices.

There is a documentary about Mayor Cory Booker of Newark, NJ and his first run at the office in 2002. it seems that everything short of direct payments is what is expected when you run for office in Newark.

You only get them if: 1. You are dead, 2. You vote early and often.

Don't they still make those direct payments to voters in Chicago?

I find farm subsidies to be quiter and much less annoying. I think the broadcasters are getting a windfall from the constantly extending election season, but we, the viewers pay in price in annoyance.
