Yes. It will probably be about his inability to pick a side when it comes to a little heat on his back.

So now we know the truth and we kind of all expected the 15% number—so do we think this will hurt his campaign since he is clearly part of the 1%.

I completely agree Romney hiding his taxes will do nothing but hurt his campaign what business person or responsible citizen doesn't understand their tax rate and liability. Mr. Romney give us some credit come clean and move on with the rest of your campaign-eliminate the distraction.

I guess I more agree with Noreen and Huckabee Hound. And instead of admit that they don't understand Mitt's taxes, as well as their own tax liabilities, the average American will instead make far easier and wildly inaccurate inferences about Mitt's character, the evil of private equity princes, etc.
Broadway,
Ha. How cynical (and possibly correct). Perception is reality, as they say.

Scott, you give the average American too much credit. What they will glean from Mitt's taxes is what they are told to glean ... by Democratic and Gingrich operatives in the media: that Mitt is a tax-avoiding, job-destroying, Massachussets elitist (who also happens to be anti-Christian).
By reading Mitt's tax return, the average American will understand the truth: The U.S. tax code is incredibly complicated and filled with a gazillion loopholes and needs to be reformed.
I agree. But to play devil's advocate, consider this: former presidential contender Mike Huckabee said he rues the day he released 20 years of tax returns. Most people, he said, don't understand their own taxes, much less the tax return of someone else. Now compound that: Do you think the average person will understand the pages and pages of schedules in old Mitt's return? Or will the bottom line basically be "he's got a heck of a lot of money and pays very little taxes?"
Huckabee's point (and I gotta confess, whenever I hear his name I think not of Huckleberry Finn but of Huckleberry Hound) claims releasing the tax returns gets you nothing but criticism, regardless of your income level.
Thoughts?
Because most of Mr. Romney's income ie derived from past investments, he is taking advantage of some "age-old" tax laws that allow his tax rate to be lower than others who are making far less. I am not knocking his success, but it seems as though he has somehting to hide.
