Words are nice and he can deliver a moving speech. I'm looking for some follow-through in his actions.
For example his "all of the above" strategy for energy doesn't include the Keystone pipeline, which he vetoed just last month. Why not?
And what about nuclear energy. How much does he really favor that alternative? Not so much, it seems. So "all of the above" becomes just another bumper sticker from a president running for re-election.

Presidnet Obama is always good to say the right things, but we haven't seen him execute any important things that well.
Maybe this alternative enegery issue is just a challenge too big at this moment. Still as leader, I hope he not only says it, he shall start to execute a feasible plan and project.

Cleaner, greener energy has become many people's dream but the heavy cost involved in alternative energy is making it difficult to implement in reality. However, people cannot help hoping that this could become a reality. I think president Obama got right to the heart of the matter by acknowledging there is a problem in the first place which many are afraid to do. He didn't stop there he offered alternative energy sources. He told the audience a captivating tale. I think that is his skill. In turn this made you hopeful. What do you think?
Joey,
The other day on your supplement piece, Scott Raynovich posted a link to a story about the founder of 4 hour energy. If you read that whole story he starts talking about how he is looking at alternative energy and how he has attacted talent to managed the project for him. I think this just highlights that there is money to be made in alternative energy and that it is there, it just needs to become more widely avalible.
Here is the link to Scott's comment.

I am torn on this subject. Its true we are not seeing much of an impact from the governments backing of alternative energy, but I think these things take time. we R&D dosnt happen overnight.
Obama is right, we can not keep heading down the same road we are on, the problem is that another road isnt really visible yet.

Joey, I think the problem with what Obama is saying now is that he has said this before over and over. So I I see a government who is not good a predicting what will happen and getting plans in place ahead of time. With what is happening in the Middle East, rising gas pricing should not be a surprise. Government support of things like wind and solar power have not worked.
The Reuters/University of Michigan consumer sentiment index inched up 0.3 point to reach 75.3 in February, its slowest pace in six months.
Americans are feeling more pessimistic on their current financial situation as gasoline prices started rearing their ugly head. However, an improving labor market and increases in disposable income are boosting consumer optimism about the long-term economic outlook.
Economists at IHS Global insight report the news on the consumer front has been mostly positive. The unemployment rate is now standing at 8.3%, payroll figures are relatively stronger, and it seems that the European debt issue is not having a significant impact on the American economy. The one thing that is a real downer to most Americans is gasoline prices.
Americans are going to feel pain at the pump, since given the current state of affairs it is relatively safe to say that gasoline prices will surpass $4/gallon by Memorial Day. The recent news on the jobs front is cause for some hope that the future will look brighter, but as gasoline prices rise consumer confidence takes a beating.
I'd say it was a combination of content and delivery. Like I said, i don't know how pragmatic his administration is being in regards to energy, but hearing the president of the United States recite word for word all the things I want to hear is comforting. Plus, Obama is a masterful public speaker. Charmed me out of my socks, honestly. He has this whole cult of personality thing going and I can completely see why. Either that or word association, since 'hope' is on every Obama bumper sticker ever. Probably all the former, though.
Joey,
Why did Obama's speech leave you feeling hope filled? Did he seem sincere?
