I can understand the merits of multiple accounts. I have several myself, because I want to be able to access the ATM nearest my office and the one nearest my home without incurring fees. I don't pay service charges because I keep the required minium balance in each.

It's really no one's business what you do with your money. And I agree, it's offensive for a teller to ask.

I found it uncomfortable and invasive. I mean, what if I planned to go gamble? Or buy contraband? Would she have called a counselor or the police? If it is your money, why should you have to justify making a withdrawal?

She actually asked me why I wanted to withdraw so much cash.
@Noreen, I have been asked the same question when I used withdraw cash. It's really annoying to the customer when the banker asks such question. I think banks should strictly follow "code of conduct" and shouldn't interfere like that. Thanks to the ATM and online transfer option I visit banks less these days.
I usually do everything online, but at times when there are cash flow issues, then I opt to do cash to get immediate credit to the account. FYI ING is one of my banks. I'm holding my breath to see what happens now that it's been acquired by Capital One (which has historically been one of my least favorite institutions.)

Noreen,
While I agree with you on BoA and tax twice, I am surprised that you spread all your daily banking to multiple institutions. Like mortgage, you might have to do it every month or even bi-weekly. Do you really do that kind of cash transactions every month or b-weekly.
I'd say you are a brave person, willing to take so much effort to deal with cash transactions, and prbably talking to tellers. How about set up an online banking, lile ING Direct. Then you can link all your other banks to ING. In that way, you can use ING as a hub to move cash among all other banks. I think that will save you lots of time of hassles.
Your opinion?

I agree. maybe the robo-signers spread them all over the country. the banks have shown a callous disregard for following the rules and keeping track of the dteails. The customers of BoA seem to be the ones who suffer. I am glad I do not have an account with them.
I know! And what kind of law makes it ok to charge you the same tax (mortgage recording) twice?
The refi situation is laughable getting a refi is harder than getting a new mortgage. Since refining to save money is the object of the game why do they think you can't afford a lower payment when you are making a higher one today---the paperwork requests are laughable.

You know I'm begining to suspect that the Bank of America just doesn't want to let you go to another bank or refinance. They may be sloppy but to be this slow??? 6 months just to locate the documentation. I cringe when I think of what must be going on in there if this is truly the case. You are very wise Noreen to spread your wealth around, after all they say not to put all your eggs in one basket. How true.
