This post might not have any analysis on ways to make money but it surely has a lesson in how to SAVE money: don't donate any money to the campaigns of any of these Republican pretenders to the throne. If you are a Republican, suck it up and realize your only hope is the "moderate from Mass." If it's not too late ... his competition have damaged Romney so much and forced him to move his views so far into the unvoteable right wing, that he may no longer be viable competition for the president.

Yes BigJim, I heard your opinion and I think it is that you don't want to hear about Limbaugh but it's okay to hear about Bill Maher. Point taken.

I suggest that you use Bill Maher's solution -- don't read what you don't want to be exposed to. However, please don't ask me to limit my writing only to what you would like to read. Feel free to criticize me for my opinion just as I feel free to criticize Mr. Kitner for his.

I do read your posts @Fred. I like your detail and analysis, and also like the humor that some of the other writers on the site offer. The mix of stuff is one of the reasons I like the site. I don't mind a little diversion, but sometimes, like I tell my sons, enough is enough. Heard your opinion, you heard mine, let's move on.

The reason we're talking about Limbaugh is that he was referenced in an earlier post on this thread.

But hey BigJim, what led you to read a political post in the first place? All of the responses here were to a post called "End Gingrichcare Now," which had absolutely nothing in it that would help you make money.

Why not check out my regular post about Dow Theory?

Why are we talking about Limbaugh again? Wasn't that conversation on another article?

Limbaugh doesn't make me any money. He's not a public company or public official.

Let's talk about money so I can invest better and leave Limbaugh on the radio.

Hi Scott,

Here are definitions of 'cynical' and 'sarcastic:'

Cynical (adj) means : believing the worst of human nature and motives. Sarcastic (adj) means expressive of ridicule that wounds.

While it is possible that in addition to having a foul mouth, Bill Maher was being both cynical and sarcastic when he said that the only time he hears Rush Limbaugh is when he is waiting for a traffic signal to change and he is near a pickup truck. When he said that he was clearly being sarcastic.

The inference Maher is making is that pickup drivers are rednecks and only rednecks listen to Limbaugh. According to the internet dictionary, the word 'redneck' is a derogatory slang term used in reference to poor, uneducated white farmers from the South. His inference might perhaps be called cynical but it is clearly meant to ridicule the pickup driver and the listener to Rush Limbaugh.

Fred,

Being a huge fan of comedians I agree with you, though I do sometimes watch Maher from time to time and laugh at his jokes (probably more than you).

But for me the world is "cynical" more than "sarcastic." Maybe it's both. He is, in fact, one of the most cynical entertainers on earth.

Well thank you Driven, I read Bill Maher's article and came to the following realization.

Conan O'Brien is funny. I don't think too many people are offended and I, personally laugh out loud when I see him.

Bill Maher is sarcastic rather than funny and sarcasm appeals to like-minded readers or listeners. However, those who disagree with his point of view rarely laugh at anything coming out of his mouth and the reason is in the definition of sarcasm which follows:

"In sarcasm, ridicule or mockery is used harshly, often crudely and contemptuously, for destructive purposes."

This sums up Maher in a nutshell and since I rarely agree with him I find him nasty, mean, cruel, coarse and a series of other negatives.

Thanks. Looks like an interesting read. I know that story well-- a relative used to talk about that quite a bit.

Hi Driven,

Have I got a deal for you!

I'll read your article and laugh a little if you read this by Adam Fergusson.
