@drivewaygirl

Yes and this action makes me nervous. The "breadth" of the market, or share of stocks leading higher or going lower, has been getting narrower on up moves. That means that less stocks are participating in the upside. As they say this is a "narrowing" market. Because Apple has such a large market cap it is made up an increasingly large share of the moves in major indices like the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq. This type of action is indicative of tops, not sustainable moves, so it makes me a bit nervous.

It's like a twist on that old saying...Apple gets a cold and the whole market gets sick.

What's interesting to see with Apple is how whatever move it makes, up or down, it really shakes the markets. And I can only surmise the collateral damage on long lists of suppliers, etc who live and breath on the strength of Apple.

Who knows but the stock is up $200 since December! Can you blame any of the holders for selling if they are up 50% in four months?

Technically, the stock could easily pull back to $525 and still have a healthy chart. It was getting a little crazy in recent weeks would be nice to shake out some of the JOhnny-come-latelies. For the record I do not own any AAPL at the moment.

Interesting theory Scott. It's down again today. Do you think the drop just made some people nervous?

@Noreen

I could be wrong but I'm convinced that a lot of the selling was a lot of profit-takers selling AAPL to pay taxes! The timing was interesting.

I bet that's what Apple was thinking when it got hit with that big decline earlier this week.

Are we talking superstitions or forces that affect bodily function? The full moon is the latter ... Just look at werewolves. Put daily savings time or jet lag in that category too. They may not cause you to break out in fangs and furry ears but the change in sleep patterns definitely can affect a persons ability to make rational choices.
