Thank you for sharing this with us. Feel sorry to what happend to your daughter. Hopefully you will recover all your settlement.
But one lesson learned here. The structured settlement is not a good idea if the time span is over 10 years. Too many things can happen in 10 years. And we human beings only live that long. It's really painful to go through all resources to recover those settlements after so many years.

Yes. If you don't try you never know. You should never hesitate to ask for information or search every source even if you feel it's a lost cause. Chances are that someone might know something. No one is going to make procedure manuals for dealing with everything that life throws at you.
That is so important to remember @Phoenix. You just have to be strong enough to keep pushing forward, right?

That's true. Believe it or not one lesson I have learned is that on most occasions persistence pays. Even if a situation looks completely hopeless it is most likely that there is a loop hole somewhere along the way.
I know! But life is like Pandora's box...once you start living, really living, you have to open the lid. And then all hell breaks loose, like it or not.
@Noreen. Yes, but there are some things I'd rather not learn.
It's amazing how many things we end up learning about just through the process of living our lives -- working, raising families, etc -- isn't it?

I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your daughter. I hope you will be able to recover the settlement for her. So many things have changed with time I guess we can never predict what will happen in the future. I'm very interested to know how such issues can be resolved.

Thank you for your post Noreen. Thomas Jefferson Life Insurance Company was renamed F&G Life Insurance Company in 2002. A Google search for Thomas Jefferson Life Customer Service brings this up on page 1. Renaming or rebranding (and mergers and acquistions) is an accepted business practice

As to Kenneth Wells, the company was rolled up along with 2 other firms to form EPS Settlements, which STILL EXISTS. The broker who set up the structured settlement may still be in the business.
In the last 18 years it has been more common place for plaintiffs to have their own structured settlement expert, who is more likely to stay in touch during the interim.
