  1. Is Gundlach running for anything?  His straight-forward talk would attract a lot of votes.

  2. Why don't politicians talk more like this?

I agree, Tenacious, although some of them are terrifying!

The risks imposed by this massive number of unemployed youth is beyond comprehension. They need something to do, some way to make money...so if they can't find work, what do you think they will turn to? Illegal activities? Fanaticism? What a mess.

Love Gundlach's slides. They're really worth taking a look at.

I could not agree more with Gundlach's statement that  "There's nothing more scary than a huge number of 25-year-old men with no job, no money, and nothing to do."

The unemployment among the youth in Europe is the most disturbing aspect of the whole mess.

interesting times ahead in Europe, for sure, especially with Hollande's election. And Greece keeps hogging the spotlight. If Greece leaves, which more and more people are predicting it will, that's going to change the balance of power between Merkel and Hollande. Germany may realize it has to compromise to keep the EU together.

The European economic data is distressing. Many members of the EU have already slipped back into recession. In addition, eurozone unemployment is averaging 10.9%,  the eurozone manufacturing sector just entered its ninth successive month of contraction, and the Centre for Economic and Business Research predicts U.K. unemployment will rise continually through 2016 on the back of the largest cuts in government spending since World War II.

Yes, Dex, that poll pretty accurately predicted problems in Europe. About the same number of voters said "There will be problems in Europe but not elsewhere" and "recession will be global and pervasive in 2012."

Remember that poll we had a long time ago - the one that asked about recessions in 2012? If I recall, I think most of us predicted Europe would slip back into recession, and it looks like we were right.
