I think you're right.

But the new content configuration must be unique and not a replication of what other sites are already doing and doing well.

Agree with you @TelecomFreq about Yahoo and content.  They still have Flickr and they have a deal with Facebook now for shared content.

I could see them as a HuffPost sort of specialty company but I agree that if they move in that direction, they should KNOW they are doing it and have a REASON.

Too much drifting for too many years...They're  becoming the Sears of the Internet!

I think that if Yahoo was smart they would use this confusion as an opportunity to rebrand themself as something. My pick would be as a content service provider, but thats just me.

Even subscribers are hard put to define exactly what the site does.

Yahoo can makes all the moves they want, but to be honest it just doesnt seem to me that they have a solid direction, I still see yahoo as being sort of lost.
